1973

Philippe Tournaire obtains the "poinçon de Maître" and the status of "Sculpteur sur métaux précieux". That same year, he set up his first workshop, which also served as his boutique. His career as a jeweler began where it all began: in the cellar of the family home near Saint-Germain-Laval in the Loire, a village of 1,500 inhabitants. Very quickly, his creations became the talk of the town, and the intimate, windowless setting proved unsuitable. Word of mouth praised the quality of her work, and the uniqueness of her jewelry attracted a growing number of customers.

1984

Philippe Tournaire moves into a town house in Montbrison, rue Tupinerie, which he adapts to house a workshop and a store, thus gaining visibility on the town's busiest shopping street.

1992

Launch of the iconic Alchimie collection. Jewellery designer Philippe Tournaire represents the stages of life: the square for the past, the triangle for the present and the round for the future. This motif becomes his signature.

The Alchimie trilogy ring was conceived for a trilogy competition organized by the Diamond Center in the 90s. It was first designed in two different ways and then produced in prototypes. The trilogy that was chosen was not Philippe Tournaire 's favorite: the prettiest on paper did not give the most beautiful effect in reality. This iconic Maison model required several years of evolution to achieve the perfectly balanced and harmonious version we have today.

1999

On the strength of its growing reputation, Philippe Tournaire opens a second boutique in Lyon's square d'or district. The Tournaire boutique is now located at 4, rue Childebert, in Lyon's Presqu'île district.

2004

The year of consecration with the opening of a third boutique in Paris, on Place Vendôme, the address of the world's greatest jewelers. This prestigious location gave Tournaire a new dimension, enabling it to expand internationally, with exhibitions in America, the Middle East and Asia.

2005

Philippe Tournaire combines its jewelry expertise with that of a major sports brand: Skis Lacroix. This renowned partnership will be the first of many, including Rhums Clément, Focal headphones, ceramist Georges Pelletier, Bic pens and the world's best-selling contemporary artist Richard Orlinski.

2008

Mathieu Tournaire, son of Philippe Tournaire , joins the company. Inevitably, Mathieu Tournaire 's passion for Jewellery was passed on naturally by his father during childhood, as he spent a large part of his days in his father's workshop. However, the future designer didn't directly follow the path suggested to him. He began his professional life as a teacher, after studying history and anthropology. However, the growing passion that had been with him from an early age took over and eventually caught up with him.

2013

Fabienne Buccio, Préfète de la Loire, presents Philippe Tournaire with our nation's highest honor, the insignia of Chevalier in the Ordre National de la Légion d'Honneur.

In the same year, Mathieu Tournaire becomes Artistic Director of the House and inaugurates the new headquarters on the outskirts of Montbrison. The new factory includes a new boutique, workshop and R&D offices.

2017

Artistic Director of the House since 2013, Mathieu Tournaire becomes General Manager of the company.

Mathieu Tournaire conveys the fundamental values of the House, he designs and manufactures all his jewelry in his workshop in Montbrison, France, while promoting the precious know-how of French Jewellery inherited from his father.

2022

Launch of a new brand: Tournaire Décor.

A new department dedicated to decoration and objets d'art, backed by the Maison de Jewellery , which for many years has mastered the full range of jewellery-making skills, Jewellery, 3D prototyping, casting, goldsmithing... all at its workshop in Montbrison in the Loire region.

Today, Tournaire partners with companies for one-off creations or mass production, requiring both its historic expertise and new techniques developed in the fields of decoration, tableware and design.

2023

In 2023, Maison Tournaire celebrated its fiftieth anniversary. Founded in 1973 in the cellar of the family home, the company has come a long way since then. Today, the founder's son, Mathieu Tournaire, presides over the House, carrying high the essential values that have animated it since its creation. To mark this memorable event, a book has been published, retracing 50 years of creations. In 2023, two new collaborations were launched: Le Parapluie de Cherbourg: La Maison Tournaire has teamed up with this iconic brand to create 4 unique umbrella models. Each umbrella is a work of art in its own right, combining elegance and functionality. Bic and Richard Orlinski: Together, they have created a new edition of the Bic pen, enhanced by a ruthenium finish. These partnerships illustrate the bold vision of Tournaire and its ability to go beyond the boundaries of traditional Jewellery .

House Tournaire

A HISTORY OF FRENCH JEWELRY

The Maison de Jewellery Tournaire was founded 50 years ago by Philippe Tournaire in the Loire region of France. Self-taught, its history and unique jewels combining architecture and Jewellery have brought it international renown.

Renowned for decades for its distinctive DNA and strong commitments, Tournaire boasts rare French know-how, the result ofwedding ring combining ancestral techniques such as lost-wax casting with state-of-the-art technologies such as 3D modeling.

An avant-garde company, Tournaire has been using 3D printing for over twenty years. At the same time, Jewellery is one of the few jewelry houses to produce its jewelry entirely in-house, from design to setting, casting and polishing.

Over the years, Philippe Tournaire has passed on his passion to his son Mathieu, who today conveys the fundamental values of the Maison. Mathieu Tournaire designs and manufactures all his jewelry in his workshop in Montbrison (France), while promoting the precious know-how of French Jewellery inherited from his father.

Beyond know-how

Like its creators Philippe and Mathieu, Tournaire is always on the lookout for innovation, for jewelry that has never been seen or made before. For 50 years, Tournaire has set itself apart in the world of Jewellery with a strong style, subtly using the art of "organized disorder". This unique style is characterized by great freedom of expression and daring, always in search of the jewel with the perfect balance. The designers restrict themselves to nothing, right down to the discovery of the right combination of shape and color... This freedom is combined with a unique know-how combining the best of ancestral techniques, such as lost-wax casting, with the best of the most modern technologies, such as 3D design. Over 20 years ago, Tournaire was a pioneer in the use of 3D, which is now a must-have for all the major Maisons of Jewellery.

La Maison Tournaire is made up of a team of experts with exceptional skills and techniques, who devote themselves every day to a shared passion. From the first stroke of the pen to the jewel's presentation in the boutique, everything is created in-house by the teams at the Tournaire workshop in Montbrison-Savigneux. The Tournaire brand has always been built on values that are inseparable from the company. And it is on this foundation that Philippe and Mathieu Tournaire perpetuate precious know-how and a reputation for French tradition.
